We collect only what's needed to make Whisq work. We don't sell your data. We don't show you ads. Your recipes are yours.
What We Collect
When you create an account, we store your email address or Apple ID identifier for authentication purposes. As you use the app, your extracted recipes, reviews, ratings, cooking photos, and cookbook rankings are saved to our database so they're available across sessions and devices.
When you submit a URL, we temporarily process it to extract recipe content — fetching public transcripts, analyzing video, and using AI to structure the recipe into ingredients, steps, and timing.
Analytics & Crash Reporting
We use a self-hosted analytics system to understand how the app is used — things like which features are popular and where people get stuck. We use Sentry for crash reporting so we can fix bugs quickly. No advertising networks or ad-tracking services are used, ever.

How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to provide the Whisq cooking experience — extracting recipes, saving your cookbook, powering suggestions, and improving the app. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
Data Storage & Security
All data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS. Our database is hosted on Supabase with row-level security policies, meaning each user can only access their own data. We follow industry-standard practices to keep your information safe.
Your Rights
You can delete individual recipes at any time. You can also delete your entire account and all associated data from the Settings screen in the app — this action is immediate and irreversible.

Children's Privacy
Whisq is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make meaningful changes, we'll notify you through the app. Continued use of Whisq after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
